Natural Help for Headache Sufferers

By: Michael Byrd

Headache victims are constantly trying to find ways to lessen their migraine pain.

More than 25 million people are victims of these debilitating headaches. Thankfully, however, researchers have studied natural remedies to overcome the irritating pain and provide long lasting relief.

What pain relief alternatives do you have? Aside from vomiting and taking dangerous pain killer drugs, the only other option most people know of is finding a dark place to lay down and wait it out. And that’s about it.

If you've ever had a migraine, you know what I'm saying.

If you've had more than one migraine, you've had to come up with your own personal way to handle them.

Though no one knows for certain, most migraines seem to be caused by glandular imbalances, stress or tension, various foods like chocolate, alcohol and caffeine, food colorings and additives like MSG and various medications like birth control pills. Isolating and removing the triggers from your life will will help you to prevent future migraine headaches.

In addition to reducing the triggers, you'll want to start paying attention to what you're eating. Your goal is to remove all of the processed foods and replace them with good natural whole foods.

What kinds of foods am I talking about? A whole food diet starts with the basics of brown rice, whole wheat and natural soy. You'll no longer be eating white rice or pasta, enriched wheat or soy that's been genetically modified. They offer NO nutrition and do more harm than good.

Another part of a whole food diet is eating colorful fruits and vegetables.

Now don't think you can get away with things like fruit juice or those fake fruit rolls you find in the grocery store. They're just not whole food. And, you can't count iceberg lettuce, potatoes or bananas. They just don't give you enough of what you're eating the fruits and vegetables for. And, although they’re good for other things, they contain little to no beneficial phytonutrients like carotenoids, flavonoids or cruciferous compounds.

Your whole food diet should also include low fat dairy (like yogurt and cheese), free range eggs, lean chicken and fatty fish.

Even if you can only make small changes to your diet, it's absolutely vital that you include the fatty fish like salmon, tuna, mackerel and sardines. They include the very important omega 3 fatty acids which scientists and researchers have proven to have a very beneficial effect on migraine pain relief.

And finally, adding a high quality, pure fish oil supplement to the diet always makes a HUGE difference with anybody's migraine problem.

Studies show that the omega 3 fatty acids from fish oil have amazing natural anti-inflammatory properties. If you take your fish oils supplements regularly, there's a very good chance that you'll see an immediate reduction in the frequency and severity of your migraines.

You may even find that if you take some fish oil just as you feel a migraine coming on, that you may be able to stop it from becoming full blown.

So get yourself on a whole food diet that includes plenty of fatty fish or a fish oil supplement and you'll be amazed at how good you feel. Migraines will be a thing of the past!
